The six questions behind every plywood quote

  1. 01
    Application

What the panel is for: kitchen cabinets, furniture carcasses, wall panels, packing crates or formwork.

  2. 02
    Core

White Styrax for light, flat furniture panels, or Eucalyptus for a harder, heavier panel.

  3. 03
    Glue and emission

UF glue at E0 emission is standard for furniture and interior panels; E1 emission, MR, melamine-fortified or phenolic WBP glue to order.

  4. 04
    Face and back

Species and grade, for example Birch D+/D, Poplar, EV oak, Okoume or Pine.

  5. 05
    Panel size and thickness

1220 × 2440 or 1250 × 2500 mm, a custom size or cut-to-size pieces, and each thickness with the tolerance your line needs.

  6. 06
    Packing and quantity

Export pallets or your own labels, the quantity per specification, the destination port and the documents you need.

Drawings, cut lists or a spec sheet go in the upload field (up to 3 files) or in an email to the export team.

Reply time

How fast you get a plywood quote

Within hours on working days. A request that reaches us during office hours (08:00–17:00 Vietnam time, UTC+7) gets its first reply the same day, and the dated quotation follows as soon as the specification is clear.

What the first reply contains

  • Your specification read back line by line: face and grade, core, glue, thickness and tolerance, size and finish.
  • Any question we need answered before pricing, asked in one message instead of three.
  • The dated quotation: price per m³ or per sheet, the delivery term with your port, production time after deposit and the payment terms.
  • An offer of free samples of the faces and cores you are comparing.

What makes the quote faster

  • Name the application and the destination market: together they set the glue, the emission class and the documents.
  • Give the thickness with its tolerance and the sheet size, or attach a cut list.
  • Say how many cubic metres or sheets you need per specification, or how many containers a month.
  • Say which files your market asks for, such as the US emission file, the EUDR dossier or the PPWR test.

WhatsApp is quickest for a short question. The form or email suits a full specification with drawings.

Vietnam plywood price

Vietnam plywood price: what sets it in your quote

We quote every specification on its own and date each quote. Six choices move a Vietnam plywood price more than anything else: face and grade, core, glue and emission class, thickness and tolerance, size and cutting, and quantity with the delivery term. A dated quote within hours replaces a fixed price list.

01

Face veneer and grade

Birch, Poplar, EV, Okoume, Pine and our other faces are priced differently, and the grade moves the price within each species. A D+/D birch face costs more than D/E.

02

Core

White Styrax or Eucalyptus, stitched both horizontally and vertically. The species and the number of core veneers set the weight, the flatness and the price.

03

Glue and emission class

UF glue at E0 emission is standard for furniture and interior panels. E1 emission, MR, melamine-fortified and phenolic WBP glue are made to order, and each glue carries its own price.

04

Thickness and tolerance

3–40 mm. Furniture panels pressed twice and sanded to ±0.2–0.3 mm, down to ±0.2 mm, with polished, UV-ready faces take more press and sanding time than commercial panels.

05

Size and cutting

1220 × 2440 and 1250 × 2500 mm are standard. Custom sizes and cut-to-size pieces (4, 6 or 8 per panel) are priced by the size you need.

06

Quantity and delivery term

Priced per m³ or per sheet for a 40HC, FOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF to your port. Mixed loads by agreement.

Price per m³ or per sheet

Plywood is priced per cubic metre and converted to sheets by the sheet volume. One 1220 × 2440 × 18 mm sheet is 0.0536 m³, so one m³ holds about 18.7 sheets; the price per sheet is the price per m³ times 0.0536.

Face veneer, core, glue and thickness are what set a plywood price.

Why plywood prices move between quotes

Veneer supply

Core and face veneers are peeled from plantation logs. In the rainy season logs are harder to harvest and veneer dries more slowly, so veneer costs rise.

Glue resin

Glue resins follow chemical and energy prices. Water-resistant glues such as phenolic WBP move more than standard furniture glue.

Buying season

Demand peaks before the European and US furniture seasons, and press time books up earlier. Ordering ahead keeps your production slot.

Ocean freight

CFR and CIF prices carry the freight rate of the booking week. An FOB price stays the same whatever the freight market does.

Why no price list: veneer, resin and freight move every month, and a twice-pressed, sanded furniture panel is a different product from a commercial panel of the same size. A dated quote for your exact specification is right on the day you order.

How to read a plywood quotation

How to compare plywood quotes like for like

Compare quotes line by line, not by the bottom price. Two quotes are comparable only when face grade, core, glue and emission class, thickness tolerance, size, quantity and delivery term all match; most price gaps between mills come from those lines.

Lines in a Minh Thanh plywood quotation
SpecificationFace and grade, core, glue, thickness and tolerance, size, finish: the exact panel the price is for.
Price basisUS$ per m³ or per sheet, with the quantity it assumes (one 40HC or a mixed load).
Delivery termFOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF to your port, named on the quote.
DateEvery quote carries its date, because veneer and freight costs move; freight in CFR and CIF follows the carrier's rate at booking.
Production timeA firm number of days after the deposit for your quantity and specification, so you can compare it with the other quotes.
Payment30% deposit by T/T, 70% against the scanned bill of lading, or an irrevocable L/C at sight.
Packing and documentsExport packs per specification; invoice, packing list, B/L, origin, phytosanitary and fumigation papers, plus emission, EUDR or PPWR files on order.

Signs a plywood quote is too low

  • The core is not named, or is called hardwood or mixed: a lighter or cheaper core can stand in for the one you asked for.
  • The glue says E1/E0 or MR with no test report behind it: a cheaper glue can replace the emission class you need.
  • Thickness comes without a tolerance, so an 18 mm panel can arrive well under 18 mm.
  • The face grade is missing, which lets the lowest face sheets go on your panels.
  • No production photos, no named contact, and 100% payment before production.

FOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF: who pays what

Under all three terms the risk passes to you once the goods are on board at Hai Phong. The terms differ in who books and pays the sea freight and who insures it.

Landed cost beyond the FOB price

Your cost at the warehouse is the FOB price plus ocean freight, marine insurance, destination port charges, customs clearance, import duty under your tariff code and inland transport. CFR adds the freight to our price and CIF adds freight and insurance; destination charges and duties stay with the buyer under all three terms.

You pay the 70% balance only after the goods are on board and the bill of lading is issued, and the loading photos and video reach you before that payment. A supplier who wants 100% before production moves all the risk to the buyer; we never ask for it.

Use the free samples to test what matters on your line: face colour and grain under your finish, the edge for core gaps, the thickness with a caliper, and how the panel takes your glue, edge band or UV coat.

How to check you are talking to the factory

  1. Ask for a live video call from the press hall and the packing area, with today's panels on the line.
  2. Check the mill number on the emission label and test file against the panel you are buying: ours is ICTT mill no. 23024.
  3. Ask for dated production and loading photos of a recent order.
  4. Send your own inspector or a third-party agency before loading; SGS testing to your method is arranged on request.
  5. Pay only to the company account named on the proforma invoice, and confirm the bank details by phone with Lisa before the first payment.

What you see before the balance is paid

Before loading we check thickness with a caliper, the faces, the edges and the pack count. Photos and video of the checks, the strapped packs and the loaded container reach you by email or WhatsApp before the 70% balance is due.

Plywood quote questions

How fast will I get a plywood quote?

Within hours on working days, by email or WhatsApp, Vietnam time (UTC+7). Lisa confirms the specification first and asks for anything missing, then sends the dated quotation.

What is the price of plywood from Vietnam?

We quote each specification within hours instead of publishing a price list. Face and grade, core, glue and emission class, thickness and tolerance, size, and quantity with the delivery term set the figure. Each quote is dated and given per m³ or per sheet, FOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF.

What should a plywood RFQ include?

Application, face and back with grade, core, glue or emission class, thickness with tolerance, size, quantity, packing, destination port and the documents you need. One line is enough to start; we ask for the rest.

What is the minimum order?

One 40HC container. It can carry one or two specifications as standard, and three to six by agreement, so a first container can test several faces or thicknesses.

How many plywood sheets fit in a 40HC?

About 990 sheets of 18 mm Styrax-core plywood, 1220 × 2440 mm: 55 sheets per pack × 18 packs, about 53–54 m³. Eucalyptus core is heavier and loads fewer packs; the packing calculator gives every thickness.

Do you send samples?

Yes. Free samples of the faces, cores and glue you want to test before you order.

What payment terms do you accept?

30% deposit and 70% against the scanned bill of lading, by T/T. We also accept an irrevocable L/C at sight.

How long do production and shipping take?

Production takes 15–45 days after the deposit, by quantity and specification. Sea transit from Hai Phong is about 20–30 days to the US West Coast, 25–35 days to the Mediterranean, 30–40 days to Northern Europe and 35–45 days to the US East Coast on typical direct services.

Can I mix specifications in one container?

Yes, by agreement. List each specification with its quantity in your request and we plan the packs for one container.

Can you make custom sizes and thicknesses?

Yes. We make 3–40 mm in 1220 × 2440 and 1250 × 2500 mm, custom sizes such as 1220 × 2500 or 1220 × 2280 mm, and cut-to-size pieces of 4, 6 or 8 per panel.

Does your plywood meet US and European emission requirements?

Yes. Our panels meet CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI under ICTT mill no. 23024, UF glue at E0 emission is standard for furniture panels, and European buyers accept that file and our chamber tests as proof. SGS tests to your own method, such as EN 717-1, on request.

Can you supply EUDR files?

Yes. We supply the EUDR compliance dossier (origin records and geolocation files) with orders.
