In short

Minh Thanh Plywood makes Vietnam plywood in its own factory in Ha Hoa, Phu Tho. Our main line is furniture and interior plywood for Europe, and we also make commercial, packing, film-faced, anti-slip and exterior plywood and LVL. Panels are built to order on white Styrax or Eucalyptus cores, 3–40 mm thick, with UF glue at E0 emission as standard, and ship by the 40HC container.

Product groups

Vietnam plywood in two main product groups

Our Vietnam plywood range is built around two groups. Furniture and interior plywood is the main line; commercial and packing plywood covers cost-effective joinery, backs and transport uses. Each group is built differently, so start with the group that matches the end use.

Other products Made to order for construction and outdoor jobs: Film-faced · Anti-slip · Exterior / CDX · LVL

Two panels with the same face can belong to different groups. What separates them is the build: core grade, how the core veneers are joined, face preparation, glue system and thickness tolerance. Furniture panels use grade-A cores laid without gaps and stitched; commercial and packing panels use AB cores laid loose or jointed, with lighter sanding. The other products, made to order, add a film overlay or a water-resistant glue.

Choose the group by where the panel ends up. A visible cabinet front needs the furniture build. A crate side needs a sound core at a good price. Formwork, trailer floors and outdoor work go to the made-to-order products listed under the groups. Each group page lists its products, specifications and container loading.

All products

All our plywood products, by face and use

Every furniture and commercial panel we make is listed here: ten furniture faces and formats, then commercial and packing plywood. Each card shows the face, the core and the best use, and opens the full specification page.

Other products Also made to order: Film-faced · Anti-slip · Exterior / CDX · LVL

Face names describe the outer veneer only. Birch, poplar, okoume, gurjan and bintangor are always faces in Vietnam; the core under them is Vietnamese plantation timber, Styrax or Eucalyptus in our furniture panels. That is why we write "birch-faced plywood" and name the core species on every quotation.

How to choose

How to choose wholesale plywood for your job

Start from the job the panel will do, then fix the build. Furniture fronts need a graded face on a stitched core, painted parts need a plain face, crates need a sound core at a good price, and formwork or outdoor parts need film or water-resistant glue. The table matches common jobs to the panel we would quote.

Kitchens and wardrobes: the job furniture plywood is built for.

The commonest mistake is comparing two offers that share a name but not a build. Two quotes for 18 mm poplar plywood can differ in core species, core grade, joining, glue and tolerance, and the price gap follows. Put both offers on one specification, line by line, before you compare them.

Other mistakes repeat: E0 written in the glue box (E0 is an emission class; the glue system is its own line), a boil test asked for without its method, or no core species at all. We read every RFQ against these points and come back with questions before we price.

Price follows the build. Core species and grade, stitching, face species and grade, the glue system, sanding and tolerance, and the mix of thicknesses in the container all move it. We quote per cubic metre or per sheet for your exact specification, and Lisa replies within hours.

Before bulk production you approve a sample. We send free samples made to your specification, and the grade of the whole order is held to the sheet you approve.

Vietnam has no poplar or birch cores. Poplar, birch, okoume, gurjan and bintangor are face veneers only, glued over Vietnamese plantation timber. Our furniture panels use white Styrax, which weighs about 500 kg/m³ and gives a pale edge, or Eucalyptus at 650–750 kg/m³ when the buyer wants a heavier, harder panel.

Glue system and emission class are two separate lines on a specification. E0 describes how much formaldehyde the panel gives off; MR, melamine-fortified and phenolic describe how the bond resists water. A 12-hour boil needs melamine-fortified glue, and emission then usually moves to E1.

Checks on every order

  1. Veneer sorting

face and core veneers are graded before lay-up and matched to the grade on your order.

  2. Core lay-up

furniture cores are grade-A veneers laid without gaps or overlaps and stitched both ways.

  3. Double pressing

the core board is pressed and calibrated, then the face and back are pressed on.

  4. Sanding

both faces are sanded to the order tolerance, down to ±0.2 mm on furniture panels.

  5. Final inspection

caliper readings, face and edge checks; any panel that misses the grade leaves the pack.

  6. Pack photos

faces, edges, caliper readings and closed packs are photographed and sent before loading.

We screen for the defects importers worry about most: core gaps and overlaps that show through the face, delamination, and thickness that drifts from sheet to sheet. Stitched cores, double pressing and caliper checks keep them out of the pack.

Third-party inspection is welcome. Your own inspector, SGS or another agency can check the order at our factory before loading, against your specification and the sample you approved.

A real factory can show its own production. Ask a supplier for footage of its lines, certificates issued in the mill's own name with a number (our CARB certificate carries ICTT mill no. 23024) and a live video walk through the plant. Those three checks separate a mill from a trading company.

Why Vietnam

Why buy Vietnam plywood, and how to compare it with China

Buyers source plywood from Vietnam for plantation-grown cores, skilled panel makers and a good price for the grade, backed by the documents Europe and the US ask for. Against China, compare the construction, the freight and the duties for your own market, not the country name.

Our region, Ha Hoa in Phu Tho, grows the plantation Styrax and Eucalyptus our cores are made from. Local timber and a skilled workforce let us make top-grade furniture plywood at a better price than comparable mills.

Vietnam is classed as low risk under the EU deforestation regulation (Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1093), and we supply the EUDR compliance dossier with orders. For the US, our panels carry CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI certification.

Price gaps between Vietnam and China come from the build: core species and grade, joining, glue system, face preparation and tolerance. Put two offers on one specification and compare them line by line.

Duties depend on where the panels land. The EU applies anti-dumping duties to hardwood plywood from China under Regulation (EU) 2025/2333. In the US, the 2026 anti-dumping and countervailing duty case on hardwood and decorative plywood covers panels from Vietnam; structural PS 1 panels and phenolic film-faced formwork fall outside its scope. Check the current rate for your HS code before you compare landed cost.

Verify a CARB or TSCA claim by the mill number. Ours, 23024, is printed on the certificate issued by ICTT, and the US EPA lists the third-party certifiers recognised under TSCA Title VI. ISO and TCVN certificates carry their numbers as shown on each card.

An E0 label alone tells a buyer little, so our results come with method, thickness and dates. Six third-party chamber tests (ASTM D6007; three by Shanghai Hongjun, three by ICTT Vietnam) between April 2025 and June 2026 on 9, 15 and 18 mm panels averaged 0.014–0.032 ppm, against the 0.05 ppm CARB Phase 2 limit.

Our furniture panels meet the emission requirements European buyers ask for; CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI certification and these chamber tests are the proof they accept. SGS tests to your own method, EN 717-1 included, on request.

EUDR applies to plywood importers from 30 December 2026. There is no EUDR certificate: the importer files the due diligence statement, and our dossier supplies the origin records and geolocation files behind it.

FAQ

Vietnam plywood questions buyers ask

Short answers to the questions importers send us most, with the numbers behind them.

Is third-party inspection recommended for Vietnam plywood imports?

Yes, especially on a first order. Your own inspector, SGS or another agency can check the panels at our factory before loading: thickness by caliper, face grade against the approved sample, core gaps, bond and packing. We also send photos of faces, edges, caliper readings and closed packs before every container is loaded.

What are the main Vietnam plywood supplier types?

Vietnamese mills specialise. Furniture-grade mills make sanded panels on stitched grade-A cores with UF glue at E0 emission; commercial and packing mills make cost-effective panels on AB cores; formwork mills make film-faced and anti-slip panels; trading companies buy from all of them. Minh Thanh Plywood is a furniture-grade manufacturer that also makes commercial, packing and construction panels.

How does EUDR affect Vietnam plywood exports to Europe?

From 30 December 2026 the EU importer of plywood must file a due diligence statement showing where the timber was grown. The mill supplies the evidence: we provide the EUDR compliance dossier with origin records and geolocation files for each order. Vietnam is classed as low risk, so importers can use simplified due diligence when every commodity comes from low-risk countries.

Vietnam plywood vs China plywood: which is better?

Neither wins on origin alone; the build decides. Ask every supplier for the core species and grade, the joining method, the glue system and the thickness tolerance. Our furniture panels use stitched grade-A Styrax or Eucalyptus cores, UF glue at E0 emission and tolerance down to ±0.2 mm, and CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI certification backs the emission claim.

How does Vietnam plywood pricing compare to Chinese plywood?

Compare the same specification, not two price lists. Core species and grade, stitching, face grade, glue system, tolerance and container fill set the price on both sides; a Styrax-core 40HC carries 53–54 m³. Duties differ by destination, so add the rate for your HS code. Send your specification and we quote per m³ or per sheet within hours.

How do I check Vietnam plywood quality before shipping?

Approve a sample first, then check the order against it. Ask for caliper readings on several sheets, photos of faces and edges, and photos of closed packs. Look for core gaps showing through the face, delamination at the edges and thickness drifting between sheets. A third-party inspector can check the order at the factory before loading.

What is the core of Vietnam plywood?

Vietnamese plywood cores are plantation hardwoods: white Styrax (about 500 kg/m³), Eucalyptus (650–750 kg/m³), Acacia (about 580 kg/m³) or a mix. There are no poplar or birch cores in Vietnam; those species appear only as faces. Our furniture and interior panels use white Styrax or Eucalyptus cores.

How do I know if a Vietnam plywood supplier is a trading company or a factory?

Ask for three things a trader cannot give: footage of its own lines, certificates issued in the mill's own name with a number, and a live video walk through the plant. Our CARB P2 / TSCA Title VI certificate carries ICTT mill no. 23024, and our lines in Ha Hoa make 50,000+ m³ a year.

What is the minimum order for wholesale plywood from Vietnam?

Our minimum order is one 40HC container, and products, thicknesses and grades can be mixed in it by agreement. Production takes 15–45 days after the 30% deposit, with the 70% balance against the scanned B/L. We ship FOB Hai Phong, CFR or CIF and send free samples before you order.
